I have a Micrologix 1100 120vac. The PLC has 3 cards that are 1762-OX6I. I want add another card that will accommodate inputs, unfortunately there are more than 8 so the 1762-IA8 will not work. I understand that I can only have a max of 4 expansion cards. I was wondering if it would work to use a 1762-IQ16 with separated 24V power to the card? The inputs going to the card would step down from 120VAC to 24VDC. Will the PLC detect the new card in the ribbon cable? Are there any issues that I may run into? The site does not want to upgrade their PLC (it was already suggested).
