i want to make a project which is like that actually i want to make a speed control  of induction motor using
Allen bradley micro logix PLC..... for this i place a sensor (temp sensor , air flow sensor, pressure sensor, humidity sensor etc.)
which give as analog output , now i gives this analog output at  the analog input terminal of AB PLC..

my question is this how can i now this PLC will give some (at analog output terminal) gate Signal to the  TRIAC or THYRISTOR

Hi,

I would like to connect a  Ramsey Micro-Tech 9101 integrator via Ethernet/IP to a Controllogix. I have read the manual from Ramsey and they show that I should add a Generic Ethernet Module in RSLogix and enter the Input Assembly instance and Output Assembly parameters to get it working. I have tried the settings in the manual but it tells me that the Input Size is not correct, tried different values and couldn't find any that work. Could somebody please assist me?

I have emailed Ramsey but have not gotten a reply yet and I also contacted their local office here in South Africa but they could not help me.

Hello Friends

I need to read/write some bits and integers.

I have done this with ML1400 and ML1100 in the same "range" of IPs.

Now, I need to do with a SLC and ML1400 but in different "range", is it posible?

SLC IP: 192.168.1.10

ML1400 IP: 10.10.5.15

How can I do that?

Thanks in advance. :)

ZCL instruction

I'm in the midst of taking an old PLC-2 ladder program and re-writing it for a SLC-500. Most of it is nothing fancy, but the original program used the ZCL instruction quite liberally to allow them to write several complex rungs in different ZCL areas with the same physical output. In a PLC-2, if the first rung with a ZCL is false, the ladder jumps head to the next ZCL, but leaves all the outputs within that area in their last state. I currently am unsure if there are any bits/outputs that get stuck in-state when a particular section is skipped - I'm going through those four ZCL sections today. What would be the equivalent of a ZCL in the SLC-500? Or do I need to reorganize things into subroutines ensuring that I don't have any "stuck" bits? Thanks in advance! Susan ps. The PLC-2 currently in the machine is about 23 yrs old & I expect it to die at any time now. This is a pre-emptive controller upgrade that will be installed as soon as there's a 3-day downtime available.

Jog an AB 284G Armor Start controlled motor

I have several A/B 284 G-Armor Start Drives that are on a Device net Network. We use the VFD drives to turn the rollers on some Power Roller Beds. If the DeviceNet network is down is there any way I can manually jog the motor controlled by the 284 G? Does Allen Bradley make a handheld device that could be hooked to the drive and allow jogging of motor. Does anyone know of a way to jog? I have the 3 phase 480-volt power feeding the drive but I can't send the necessary inputs to the drive to run the motor because, my understanding, AB 5000 logic sends signals via Device net.

We had a Skid on a Power Roller Bed loaded up with some construction materials. The contractor wanted me to jog Skid forward to move material closer to work site. Device Net network was down so I couldn't jog motor. Contractor made a device and attached it to Drill motor and turned motor to drive the Rollers on Roller Table and move Skid. There has to be a better way. I tried to attach a video showing contractor, laying on floor under PRB, driving motor with a drill, to move load. Got to be a better way. Video was too large to attach.

Socket Services PLC-5

First time posting on this forum, hoping some of you could answer a question I have.  I am currently using the MSG instructions with service types "Socket Create", "Open Connection" and "Read Socket" on a Control Logix PLC to communicate to a device over TCP/IP.  My question is, can this also be done with a PLC-5, as when I look at the MSG instruction within PLC-5, there does not seem to be an option for these types of services.

Thanks in advance.

Looking for some help

Good Evening Everyone -

My dad has given some items, all he keeps telling me is that they are all part of an Allen Bradley setup.  He collected them from his previous place of employment as they upgraded to newer technology in hopes to set it up at his house for whatever usage.  He didn't end up setting it up due to lack of software and not wanting to shell out the money and they have been sitting for a few years.   He gave them to me, and said that I could sell them.  My problem is that I am not even sure what I should be looking for or what my target buyer should be.  My thoughts are at this point they would be better off just donating to the scrap guy.   For some reason it isn't allowing me to upload photos,  is it possible to email them to someone for help?  I want to get this stuff out of my garage.  I really appreciate your help.  Thank you.

I need to upgrade the software I'm currently using to match firmware 27.11 of a CompactLogix Controller. When I enter my serial into the Rockwell software downloads webpage, the newest revision I'm able to download is revision 24. I have the Standard software package. I see the newest revision recently released is 29. I included an image of the message I get when I try and upload from the controller.

Thanks!

Hello Friends

I am selecting a drive for an application but, I am a little lost, which is the diference between Integrated Axis Module (IAM) and Axis Module (AM)?

I will use a 2094-EN02D-M01-S0, Safe Torque-off Control Module Ethernet/IP.

I am between 2094-BC02-M02-M and 2094-BM02-M, both modules are accepted in RSLogix5000, but d dont know which select.

In the attached image, the AM has not Converter (ADC) and the IAM has.

Is this useful? the Am needs another module? or why?

Thanks in advance. :s

Question on PowerFlex4 Drives

Can anyone tell me if a 480V PowerFlex VFD will at least powerup on single phase 480V? I need to make sure the VFD's at least light up in a panel full of drives, there is no 3 phase available but I can feed them with a 120 - 480 single phase xformer, so L1 & L2 will have 480 to them. No loads are hooked up, so theres no danger of that. Just trying to see if the drives power up right now.

Easy way to test Produced / Consumed function

The title is simpler than the question :) I have two PLC's, on different subnets, located 70 - 100 miles apart. Both are in stations that have an hourly flow rate of 6,000 Barrels and Hour. I do NOT want to risk doing something to fault the processor and knock the station down. I tried using an MSG instruction but the destination doesn't show up in the connection tree. Why would it? :) Produced / Consumed is the logical choice but adding the offsite ethernet card that is on a different subnet when I don't know if our network will allow the connection to makes me nervous. I have to pass 1 and only 1 bit to about 7 upstream stations which means I need to add 7 destination enet cards to do Produced / Consumed, correct? Any way to test connectivity without creating a connection? I can ping and tracert to one of the downstream PLCs on a T1 connection. I think I have the best chance of this working at the sites with a T1. Some are Compact Logix behind cell modems. Some are CLX behind DSL. The last two are pretty iffy for making a connection

Hi, guys, how’s going?

Our company gets new production lines with AB safety PLC.

Could somebody tell us where we can find manuals, videos… to learn about it?

I did not touch it before.

Such as attachments, it showed us “Safety Unlocked”, but we still could not edit “Safety Task”.

Thanks a lot.

Can't see Micro850 after failed firmware update

$

Hello everyone!

This is the first time I use Micro850 controller (2080-LC50-48QWB) and after I made a really simple programme (just for testing) I wanted to download it to my controller (which I was able to see and connect to via Ethernet and USB normally) and I got a message saying that firmware version didn't match (programme - v9, and PLC - v4).

So I found some datasheet where was explained how to upgrade device firmware with ControlFLASH. I started the mentioned software, choose the right controller, and I choose the version 9 and the process started, but near the end I got the ERROR message, and the update wasn't finished successfully. So my controller went to fault (FAULT red light flashes) and now I can not see it in RSLinx nor via Ethernet nor USB.

Does anyone have any idea what could I do to try to establish connection with my controller? I have tried to change from prog mode to run, and back to prog, but the fault remains.

I really hope that I didn't make some serious mistake, because we need this PLC very soon for work.

Thanks  in advance!

1794-IE8 RAW COUNTS FLUCTUATING

$

Good morning all -

I have a Flex I/O 1794-IE8 that the raw counts are varying by about 30 with no change in input.  It is used as a 4-20 mA input, reading the output from a signal conditioner from a LVDT.  This is the only input used in this module.  The stackup for the Flex system is a 5434 CPU (with Ethernet and DeviceNet cards), 2 - 1794-IB16 input modules, 1 - 1794-OB16 output module, 1 - 1794-OW8 relay module and the 1794-IE8 analog input at the end of the line.

I have checked the wiring to ensure it was as specified in the installation instructions.  The LVDT and signal conditioner was changed to see if the problem moved, but it didn't.  Input 1 is used on the IE8, other inputs were also tried, with no change in results.  I tried connecting the output of the signal conditioner to a spare MicroLogix 1400 and a 1762-IF4 analog card in a further attempt to isolate the problem.  The MicroLogix raw count reading was rock steady, while the IE8 was still fluctuating.  I have seen some references online to other instances of issues similar to this, is it a known issue with these modules?  It appears that the IE8 is the problem, but I hate to pay to replace it with another if this is a known issue with the IE8 cards.

As another observation, the raw counts coming from the MicroLogix were substantially different from the Flex, like 10258 Flex vs 14541 Micro.  I had considered reading the conditioner with the Micro and messaging the count to the Flex.  The Flex is communicating with a drive via DeviceNet, and I would rather not tackle exchanging the Flex at this time.  Thus the thought of using the Micro to send the Flex a stable count value.  What would cause the raw counts to be so much different?

Separating Micrologix 1762 expansion I/O with a cable?

We have a Micrologix 1500 that has two expansion I/O cards attached to the base unit and then an extension cable running from an adapter fitted to the card in slot 2 to a further 6 I/O cards in another part of the same control cabinet.  We wish to swap the Micrologix 1500 to a Micrologix 1400 which means all the expansion I/O cards will need to be replaced.  I'm having trouble identifying a similar extension cable for the 1762 family of Micrologix expansion I/O.  Does anyone know if one even exists and if so what the part number is?  I fear there isn't an extension cable for this family of expansion I/O.  I have scoured the internet on two separate occasions and have come up with nothing.  I've tried asking our Allen Bradley supplier but they aren't the most dynamic and helpful.

I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction, if it exists.

Program open ERROR

I have a Logix 5000 program that I created in version 20.03.  I am now using a laptop running version 20.01.  When I attempt to open the project I immediately get an error message;

Project file contains an object whose format cannot be converted to it's current version.

Any ideas on how I can at least view this file.  I am not uploading/downloading to a PLC.  I just want to view the program at my desk.

Thanks

Macro Burned by the Micro 850

I'll try and keep this neutral and not degenerate into a rant, but my recent experiences with the AB Micro 850 have been less than heart-warming and encouraging.  We recently purchased a production line for my place of employment from a trio of OEM Equipment builders.  All were supposed to use AB ControlLogix or CompactLogix PLCs.  However, two of the vendors called purchasing and said "let us save you some money, by using the Micro-850 PLC Rockwell's latest and greatest offering".  And our purchasing bought it.  So this week we brought in a Rockwell Premier System Integrator to add 9300-ENA units to these machine so we could collect SCADA Data from them. Now in full disclosure these were CCW version 6 not the latest and greatest 9.1,  So we came to machine 1 a micro 850 and uploaded, saved a copy for safety, then changed the Gateway  from blank to the NAT device IP and downloaded.  Machines on our SCADA Net could now see the Micro 850, but the machine it was in wouldn't start or communicate with the Component Panelview.  Turns out that thing was in remote and came up in program.  Chose run and all appears well.  Go on and do machine 2 another Micro - 850 and it went equally flawlessly.  Our downtime window was up so we started making product.  Only one problem the previous maximum speed was unattainable.  As a matter of fact several configured variables were at their Initial Factory State rather than the state they were when we shut down.  SO HERE COMES BURN NUMBER ONE.  Upload and Save only gets the logic not the variables or the values.  You must export the Controller and each programs variables to a separate excel file to have them around to restore.  That means 1 upload and 15 exports per machine backup and no word of this "FEATURE" in the tech database.  Now today we got a window to do the third machine also a Micro-850. This time we went to program and changed the Gateway without downloading.  Went back to run and all was well in CCW, except the NAT couldn't find the Micro-850.  Blowing the project totally away and doing an upload we learned that the Gateway was not there.  So we did the 1 upload, 15 exports, 1 download and 15 imports and this time all worked fine.  SO HERE COMES BURN NUMBER TWO.  So now we try and place message instructions from Machine 1 to Machine 2 in place and nothing will communicate.  Now before you think we're total fools we had to Micro-850's talking to a Compact Logix on the shop bench just fine when they were all in the same subnet.  But when we placed NATs between them nothing works.  Hopefully our SI will sort this out over the weekend and I'll post that answer later.  SO HERE COMES BURN NUMBER THREE.  We've decided it is in our best interest to flash our Micro-850's to version 9.1, but given the Micro's track record we decided to flash a spare first and swap it in.  Only one problem, the Micro-850 is either such a hot commodity or poor unit that you can't get one for at least 2-3 weeks.  ANd FINALLY BURN NUMBER FOUR.  Trying to troubleshoot this week I wanted to force an INPUT on; only there is no right click and force option.  It is called variable monitoring and you must lock and un-lock.  It has been FORCE for two decades, why change what we call it.  Really did we need to make this more complicated.

OK I am done.  I will not knowingly spec or buy another 850 in my Plant.  Enough said.  Control and Compact Logix only.

Message block in an 1769-L24ER

I'm trying to set up a Message block to transfer data from an 1769-L24ER to a 1756-L61. i've got this working in 1/2 dozen Logix and Compact Logix PLC's. It's not rocket science. However, when I select the built in ethernet port and add , 2, IP address, 1, 0 to the end of the name and hit apply I get Failed to Set Path Value <> Module cannot be found.

Ideas? I hope AB didn't screw this PLC up... It's a handy little box that I won't be using anymore if I can't do peer to peer messaging...
