Hello everybody I really need help on understanding an array of data in logix5000 everything from creating them, dimensions, how to use them ect...anything and everything will help I have read the Rockwell literature on it but their explanations are a little confusing to understand I have gone through this forum and I found good knowledge but a lot of you guys are using it at a higher level than I am.. I have never worked with an array and want to start so I can get in that next level...
Thank you for your time it will be much appreciated

Integrating PowerFlex 755, Incremental Encoder, & Proximity Sensors into Ladder Logic RsLogix (Studio) 5000

Hello All!

This is my first post so please give my descriptions some lee-way please:P

I am having trouble finding a solid example of ladder logic which integrates a:

  1. PowerFlex (755 in this case)
  2. Rotary Incrematal Encode ( or any encoder for that matter)
  3. A Prox to reset the resolution at specific points along the axis

Also, can I use the standard Motion Instructions (MAJ,MAS,MAM etc) to control the movement sequences of the PowerFlex or are they only meant for use with Servos?

I am working on automating a Lumber Treatment Process. The movements will have to move tens of thousands of pounds.. Therefore I would like to use the PowerFlex as a Torque Limiter to control a 15HP squirrel cage motor on a massive gear reduction. I have the distances and pulses per distance traveled from the mechanical engineering guys.. I'm just having problems integrating!

After using the Setup Wizard for PowerFlex how can I go about actually inserting movement instructions for the drive into my ladder logic?

Some more info on different movement profiles..

I've also included my attempt at trying to piece this together thus far.. Any input would be welcome! (StellaPLC) https://sites.google.com/site/lyncedrgb/eva/rslogix

The actual drive and PLC are not available to be me at this time.. could this be an issue while trying to write this motion control program? (obviously not testing & troubleshooting portion)

OTU without an OTL?

Is it possible to latch a bit directly from an HMI without an OTL instruction in the logic? The PLC platform is RSLogix5000 and we are running a version of PanelView though I'm not sure off the top of my head which version it is.

We have some automated tape heads on our line that can be disabled remotely while they change rolls but to re-enable it they have to walk all the way back to the HMI. I've been tasked with providing a remote enable function which I thought would be easy enough until I started looking at the logic and was unable to find the latch instruction.

SLC505 USING EEM INSTRUCTION (SAMPLE CODE)

Hi, I am new to Allen bradley PLCs We have an application where a compact logix communicates with our SLC505.

Both PLCs write or read data. Need to send 8 word data and receive 7 word data based on Sequence timing.

Would like to establish this using EEM Instruction. Please let me know what are things I have to take care while using EEM Instruction.

Appreciate if some can send me a PLC Code using EEM instruction multiple times in a program or can guide me.

Change year/month/day on panelview plus 7

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows why we cant change the date on an application using the system tags? I was able to use the system tags for time and that works fine. however, year, day and month are giving me a write error. (Basically made a screen for the user to change the datae/time instead of going through the terminal settings.

Hey all,

I a have a few question on connecting a Cognex camera to my Compactlogix.  This is just a test application as I am learning the Cognex end off this.   What I am trying to do is trigger the camera, get pass result.  I send the trigger, get a triggerACK but no Pass bit.  So I think I'm doing something wrong.  I am using a simple Easybuilder application (this is my first time using Easybuilder) and insight version 5.2.2.  Any help you can give would be great.

Attached is a picture of my practice logic.

Adding a REAL number to a DINT

The application in question is a length measurement. Individual roll lengths are stored in a REAL data type but at the end of each roll the length is added to a daily total which is stored as a DINT type. At the end of the shift the operators record the number stored in the Length_Total into the log book and that value is used to determine material usage. We have some discrepancies on our usage and I suspect we are losing some length data in this calculation. The ADD instruction looks like this;

Source A: Length_Total  ~> DINT type

Source B: Roll_Length ~> REAL type

Dest: Length_Total ~> DINT

What happens to the numbers after the decimal in this calculation? Are they dropped off or rounded up/down?

1746-HSCE2 Configuration Examples

Hello friends I am trying to configure this crazy card, I have read the user manual and a lot of posts, I think I am closely. Most of the answers in knowledge base AB are closed to a subscription. Can you share the configuration examples in .RSS ? I do not trust that the examples in user manual are complete, because in another examples have been not complete. I need to set the Zero at any time required, for example when I push a HMI button. Should I use example 4-Using Soft Presets? or example 5-Change Presets Dynamically? I need to configure it for a digital gauge Magnescale DK50PR5 of 50 mm. Also I have a doubt, if you can help: The quadrature is X1 for this digital gauge? Thanks a lot DK50_DK100_JED.pdf

1746-HSCE2

Hi All. I have the HSCE2 set up as Class 4 Mode 1. I currently have one encoder connected but the unit is set for two encoders. I have the module doing everythng the way I want it, except being able to reset the count if a switch on an input closes. I have set both channels to Soft Preset (Counter Configuration block, words 1 and 3, bit 4 ON, bits 5 and 6 OFF. (from 1746-UM002B manual, page 4-11)). I originally was writing the output of the HSC directly to the Preset words (N10:25) per the recommendations of the manual for retentitive counters, but I changed that to a pair of integer words in N7 and changed the HSC init routine to copy the N7 words to the presets. I still retain counts through re-initializing, so that appears good. I have tried to write zeros to the preset area, but I am not sure how to get the counter to re-read the block. I will try setting the XMIT bit for the block and use a direct write of the block and see, but that is the limits to my imagination at the moment. Any hints or help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hey Guys,

I am experiencing Devicenet problem in the plant, and it seems like its E78 followed by 2 nodes. I went inside the properties of Devicenet and there is those two Nodes selected in the properties. What I am confused about is if whether that nodes are faulted or have some sort of problem with that, how can I actually find that nodes? I have no clue what those nodes are connected to, can someone please help me out? Thank you very much.

Hallo my Allen Bradley friends,

is there any way to create a folder in FactoryTalk View Studio?

I mean at Graphics/Displays.

The clarity of a bigger projekt is affected by that.

DH+ issue

We have an SLC5/04 which is connected to a PV1000 via DH+ and all is working well. My boss wants me to add the PLC to our existing DH+ network which I believe is trunk and dropline. I have a station connector in place on the network (trunk) and have run in a new "blue hose" to the PLC (less than 100ft). However, when I connect the new cable to the PLC the PV shows the message "error 688, no network nodes can be found". I have removed the terminating resistor from the SLC and left the resistor connected to the PV1000, I believe that the baud rate for all devices are set to 57.6K. Is it OK to "daisy chain" devices on a dropline as I have never seen this before?

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Steve

Studio 5000 Revision Upgrade

I need to upgrade the software I'm currently using to match firmware 27.11 of a CompactLogix Controller. When I enter my serial into the Rockwell software downloads webpage, the newest revision I'm able to download is revision 24. I have the Standard software package. I see the newest revision recently released is 29. I included an image of the message I get when I try and upload from the controller.

Thanks!

SLC 1747BA AND 1769BA Differences

Interested in knowing the difference between SLC 1747 BA and Compact Logix 1769 BA replacement batteries.

The batteries appear to have to have same 3 volt and AH specification.

Are the connectors different?

Are the direction interchangeable?

If not then, why not.

Thanks

Profinet PN/PN coupler equivalent for Ethernet/IP

$

Hi,

with Siemens PLCs I have used PN/PN couplers to have two PLCs communicate with each other. One PLC writes to memory in the PN/PN coupler and the other reads that memory. This completely segregates the IP networjs.

Is there an equivalent for Ethernet/IP?

Thanks,

Bart

Allen Bradley RSLogix 'starter' and RSLinx 'lite'- FREE

There has been several question asking how to do this or people just having issues doing it. I have search and did not find very many exact answers, so I wrote this, in hopes that it may help. RSlinx Lite and RSLogix 500 starter FREE If you are looking for the FREE version of Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 and the free version of RSLinx lite then use this, this was wrote by me so there may be an error or two but it should help you get what you are after Go to HERE Now click on software up dates and agree to the terms You must register if you don't have an account, then enter your login name and password Click on the hyperlink "Select by Catalog Number" for RSLogix 500 starter (this is for 10 point AB PLC's only) use part number 9324RL0050ENE… for RSLinx 'Lite' use this part number 9355WAB100ENE Enter the part number and click apply, click on the file below your user name and click qualify for update and choose "Download all files" You will have to do this once for each file, Linx and Logix Note: RSLinx lite will work with more then just RSLogix starter After you download the file then unzip the file and install the software, when you are asked for a serial number, use 0123456789 RSLogix 500 is a normal size and can be downloaded at any time, but RSLinx is a very large file and you may want to down load this late at night, you will need the entire file. Now… RSLogix 500 Starter, will only work with one type of PLC, that is the 10 point Allen Bradley PLC, this model number is 1761-L10BWB and 1761-L10BXB I have verified it on BXB but not on the BWB and I also think it will work on the 1761-L10BWA, the BXB has transistor outputs the BWB has relay outputs, you can get more information at HERE Also this software will not work with all 10pts, I know that some of the older PLCs (firmware) it will not, so this needs to be a new or newer PLC, if I ever find out the exact ones that is will or will not work with I will post them. Hope this helps.... and to all my friends, if you need to correct this in anyway, please do so

Using RSLogix Emulate5000 with GuardLogix Safety Controllers

Good day,

We are using Guardlogix 1756-72s controllers for our ESD system. We created safety add-on instruction in RSLogix5000 v20 and wanted to test it using RSLogix Emulate 5000, however we are getting an error that safety add-on instructions are not supported in standard controllers. Is there a way to test safety code using Emualate or Softlogix?
