Hi there!

I have a problem with a process. The bottom line is I have a quite big asynchronous motor (about 110kw), with this motor I would like to fill a pool. There is a sensor that monitors the level. Im setting the PID for the motor control, it seems to be good, but unfortunately the fultuation is very big, however the level is perfect. I send a 4-20 mA signal to the inverter. Actually, it is almost everytime changing. I think it is not good for the motor. the changing scale is between 100 and 600 rpm ... What do you guys think ? Can this cause early motor or inverter failure?

I had a thought, I did that I was doing an average and sent the current process data every 3 seconds. It causes that, the motor rpm 100 or 600 rpm.. nothing else, and change it about every 3 or 6 seconds,  because of te too much error I think. 

How can I solve the this problem. The material runs out evenly from the pool, but the control variable is still bouncing.

I monitored the process variable and the control variable too and the error too. I noticed that the output only changes when it is very close to the setpoint. for example the setpoint is 5000. And if the process variable is 4950 then the output is 100%. and if the process variable is 4992 then the output is about 67% but, the if the process data is 5010 then the output is 0%.  

I'd expect that, for example that if the process variable is 2000 then the output is will be 100%. but the process data is 4000 then the output will be 50 % ... and so on.... so I hope I can find a permanent output value. 

I dont know, maybe I made some mistake.... pls help me in this situation. Thank you.

Hello Friends

When I validate my application, I get a lot of message like:

Tag xxxx with address I:2/1 has either an unknown address, unacceptable data type or undefined controller name

I have checked and I think everything is OK. These tags are for an input output screens.

I have searched in Google and I have found a link: 58695 - PanelView Component/PanelView 800: Addressing SLC Input …

But, this send me to the login page of rockwell and I don´t have techconnect.

Somebody could tellme how to fix this problem?

writing from HMI to Array SINT [24] in PLC

What is the easiest way that HMI writes to Array of SINT[24] ?

Like I am thinking to have a maintain buttons that points to a BOOl[32] elements in PLC

when button press on HMI the bit in BOO[32] will be active high and then can write 99 a member in to SITN[24] , else will write 0.

But that required 48 rungs . Is there any other efficient suggestion ?

SLC 5/04 Communication Thru NET-ENI

I am trying to connect to a SLC 5/04 through a 1761-NET-ENI and cannot get connected, this is just to put it on plant network so I can connect with RSLinx (Classic) from my desk. I can see the NET-ENI in Linx, but when I try to connect I get diagnosticstatus 0x10 error, I've tried about everything with settings on the SLC channel config and the NET-ENI config but it seems as if they are not communicating with eachother, is there something I am missing? Thanks

Hello everyone, I'm currently trying to communicate  via ethernet with a Parker drive IPA15-HC. I'm using a 5069-L306ER CompactLogix 5380, revision 30.011. There are add-on instructions that allow you to control the drive, but since they're really basic I'm trying to use message instructions to get more data out of it.  The knowledge base provides a zip named IPA_AOI_Rev4, that includes the add-on instructions and the program you should download to the drive to use them, this is the current file downloaded in the drive. Now, I've tried different msg configurations: CIP Data table read, CIP Data table write, CIP Generic copying the values in the examples and I always get the same: 

Error Code: 16#0001

Extended Error Code: 16#0000_0125

That extended error code is nowhere to be found, not in the Logix designer online help and not in rockwell's knowledge base. Any idea?

RSLogix 5000 - Color Scheme Editing

I'm having an issue finding how to change the text color for the Timer, Preset, Accum words in the TON instruction window. I just changed my background to black on RSLogix 5000, and the blue color for those words is no longer visible enough against the black background, but I can't find the option to change their colors.

Hi, please I wish to understand something, I understand communication for AB 1400 and Delta HMI can be achieved using RS 232 communication cable and wiring the pins according to HMI manual specifications. Now I don’t have RS 232 communication cable, but I have VGA 9 pin male and female communication cable,

Please any idea on how I can communicate the PLC and HMI using 9 pin VGA male and female ?

I have been working at learning programming languages, and one of the books I have been reading has the following code.  But it doesn't run when I load it to a Softlogix CPU.  It won't go beyond the first step.  When I try to force the Tran_000 trigger (BACKWASH_START_PB) to a 1, it flips back to 0 instantly.  It's that tag that is the problem, because I made a tag not used elsewhere in the routine in it's place and it will run the program no problem.  What is wrong here?  thx

Newbie here

 I am trying to do a basic factory talk View application. However, I am running into trouble using multi-state indicators to show the status of output bits. When I use multi-state Indicator for inputs it works fine but the output shows error on the indicator. When I look at the error it says it is the wrong size variable (O:o.o/1) for a digit tag assignment. This is the first time I have worked with FactoryTalk View studio so I am probably doing something stupid.

Hello everyone, my name is Mike and I thought I would introduce myself. I am new to the fourm board but in the past searching online for answers to my questions has lead me here several times, so I thought it would be better to register and become a member.

 

My project is probably going to seem unusual and not very practical to most. I used to do some computer programming back in the 1980's to 1990's, but only for home use. Over the course of the years with my job as a technician, first with a CD/DVD manufacturing facility, and now plastic sheet and products manufacturing, I have had to troubleshoot PLC's for years. I have had to work on several types, mainly to troubleshoot them and load the programs back into memory when needed.


I wanted to learn how to do actual programming. I purchased a small training kit with an Allen-Bradley ML1000 which has six inputs and four outputs attached with several switches and lights. Seemed to go OK, but I wanted to do something more "real world" then just pushing buttons and such. At the time, the DVD plant was closing up and I was allowed to remove parts from the machines to take home since all was being scrapped.

I do have a model train layout around the wall of my living room. Documented here, the video links are missing and I have to fix that.

I thought perhaps a good real world example would be to control the layout using a PLC. I used the parts I was able to obtain from my prior job to build this, I found on Ebay the better Micrologix 1000 that has more I/O. I figured for now to stick with this since I already started using a training kit with Allen-Bradley. I did obtain some PLC modules which do have a few more I/O then the ML1000 does. I also obtained several Proface HMI panels, but have had no luck getting them to communicate to the PLC.

I am only using the RSLogix Micro Starter software as it is still free to use. I posted my progress on my website here which also has a few video links for the programs I wrote so far. Since I am using the free software I am limited to the 1000 and 1100 series PLC's Since there is no analog I/O available for these, I cannot control the speeds of the trains.

If anyone wants to see any code I have written so far, I would appreciate any feedback on how I am doing. It has been a lot of trial and error so far, but its cool to see a program working and running the trains. I did also incorporate a safety circuit which for a model train layout would be not needed, but since PLC's are used in industrial controls, safety circuits are an integrated part of machines and I wanted to follow that idea in the design of the controls for the layout.

Since I had no luck trying to get the Proface panels to work, I purchased a C-more panel since it was not very expensive and the software was free to download. I am having success with the communication with the PLC and the eventual plan is to utilize it to control my layout in my living room.

I still have a long way to go to finishing this project, plus plenty to learn about programming, but it has been a good learning tool so far.

PanelView 800 and Micrologix 1400 IO module problem

Hello Friends

 

I have a PanelView 800 (2711R-T7T) connected with a Micrologix1400 (1766-L32BWA) and an output module (1762-OW16)

I have done some screen for inpu output monitoring.

With the integrated Micrologix 1400 I/O i dont have problems, it is working ok.

The problea is that I can not see any output changing in the screen for the output module, I have rechecked everything and looks fine.

Do you know if I missing something or it is not posible to monitor this output module?

FactoryTalk - One button cannot be opened on SCADA

Hello everyone,

My problem is that on my SCADA interface, I have a series of buttons that allows me to reach PID controller, but one of them is not working properly!

I checked the VBA code behind the button and everything seems good, the problem seems to be related to the display of the button. The only thing I did was moving the button from it's initial position and now it's unable to open.

Rotation animation in Factory talk view

Helo All,

Thanks for your support on my previous quiry.

Iam now facing an issue with rotation animation of a motor in factory talk view.

I have a screen containing 5 motors and good number of numerical displays.

Numerical displays need to be updated just every seconds ,so i changed screen updation rate in SCADA as 1,

changing so decreased my motor rotation speed.

so do i have any other option to change motor animation fast keeping numerical display screen updation rate as 1 second??

i have used the tag  syste/blinkfast

Insert existing attachment

A lot of automation cells we get done are made outside of shop so we don't typically have any current acd files for the plc. I am trying to make changes to the program but uploading seems to be giving me some problems. The initial upload seems to work fine I can select a file to save to and I begin to see the file being upload, the problem comes after about two minutes near the end of the upload. Attached is the error I see after the upload stops. Has anyone seen this problem before and know of a solution? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Guys!

Is there anybody worked already with Proface panel and RFID reader ?

Can anybody help me with that ? Even it is possible to use RFID reader on a Proface touch panel ? 

The software what I use is RSlogix 5000 and of course, GP-PRO for the proface panel.
