Hello. I have a communication problem between an L30ER and SM2 module. It gives me a message error 16#001e, extended err code: 16#0000_0002, Error Text :Embedded service resulted in error. I have a Lovato network analyzer connected to SM2 module via Modbus RTU, on channel 1. The setting in the MSG instruction are: Configuration:Service type - Custom, Message type - CIP generic, service code 4b, Class 33f, instance 0, attribute 0, Source CH1_REQ[0] - INT[10], CH1_RESP[0] - INT[10]; Communication: slot 4, port 2, channel 1,  Connected - not checked. baud rate is 9600, DSI/RTU is 5, format 8-N-1. the channel led from the SM2 module is flashing. I read the value at a 2s. The rung is: XIO.TON.EN+TON.2s.EN+MSG.EN. The Cable betweenSM2 and Net.Anal is a CAT5, pins 4(A) and 5(B) Maybe someone has a clue.

Ethernet/IP to Profinet IO with CompactLogix 1769-L18ER-BB1B

I have an upcoming project that consists of a CompactLogicx PLC  with onboard I/O AND ProfiNet I/O Devices on a separate network.

This is my first time attempting to connect and control via different network protocols.

As best as I can tell I require a Gateway that transfers data between each network.

Either the Prosoft PLX82-EIP-PNC or AnyBus AB7649 Gateways appear to be viable solutions.

If anyone has used these devices would you kindly share your experiences with either of these products OR suggest other alternatives.

Pros, Cons and Suggestions always welcome.

Thanks B & B

Controlling Cylinder Stroke Length

Hello - I've recently started my adventure into PLC programming and I've found this site to be very helpful. I took on a project that requires control of a cylinder - the short and skinny is that the cylinder will have to provide position feedback and stroke to various set lengths determined by position of a selector switch. So - If position 1 is selected, the cylinder will stroke 20"inches. If Position 2 is selected, cylinder will stroke to 25"inches - so on and so on.

My questions is how to best go about this process. I may be having a brain-block and not viewing this clearly, but something is not clicking for me and wanted some advice. Planned on using Allen-Bradley's Micro850 PLC (had one on the shelf, and CCW software is free so why not).

Thanks

Not able to establish DDE connection

Good day to all,

I am trying to establish DDE communication between my PLC (1769-L23ER) and MS Access via RSLinx Classic Gateway (3.9) over Windows Server 2012 R2.  On my developing PC (Windows 7), there isn't any issue at all. But when I port the codes over to Windows Server 2012 R2, MS Access is not able to establish DDE communications with the PLC.  I was wondering what went wrong.

The error message from MS Access is "MS Access can't find the specified application and topic because it can't open the DDE channel, err.Number is 282.

The code for getting the channel is as follow

OpenRSLinx = Application.DDEInitiate("RSLinx","PLC-D")

I was wondering was there anything I have miss out. eg. Configuration of the server, path settings, etc..

Any help is welcome. TIA

Cheers

Respected Friends,

Good day. I face a serious issue please help me to fix the problem.

We have a 1756-L55/A controller with 1756/M13 A memory card. after 2 or 3 months the program washout and the LED status on the controller are following

1. RUN --- SOLID GREEN

2. I/O--- OFF

3. RS232 --- SOILD RED

4. OK --- SOLID RED

5. BAT-- OFF

6. FORCE-- OFF

At that time CONTROL NET MODULES OK Light for Chanel A and Chanel B are also blinking and communication not established via control net and serial port AB-DF1.

I switched off the power supply and after 10 second again power up the controller then OK LED becomes solid green.

i download the program and its run fine.

But the problem is still there. In the controller properties the major fault shows

TYPE 01 [ POWER UP FAULT]

CODE 60 [NON RECOVERABLE FAULT]

what are the possible reason for wash out the program from the memory?

At that time version 16.03 firmware installed and the rslogix program convert from version 10 to version 16.03.

Is 1756 L555/A with 1756/M13 A support the version 10 firmware? i ask because the original program is in version 10 if its supported then i update the firm ware and download the original program.

Hope you will help me in this issue.

Logix Compare Tool v4.1 & Win XP

Have a VM in Win XP and maintained it for more than a decade.  Attempting to run the Compare Tool v4.1.  Getting an error crashing the application, part way through compare of two projects.  Chasing the error down through Event Viewer indicates a stackover flow error in .NET4 and specifically the CLR.DLL.  Yes, it has worked for the entire decade.  Just won't run properly now.  Actually got RA to send me the original installer for 4.1, but that didn't help either.

There is a technote 59154 that talks about reconnecting to a drive or deleting the UserPreferences.xml.  Did this and still getting the same crash.  The note goes on to say check the Event Viewer repair the problem and retry the application. The issue is, I'm to dumb to figure out how to repair the CLR.DLL file.  Any ideas would be helpful.

Hello all, I am trying to open an .rss file with RSLogix 500 and I am getting the following error: Unsupported processor! Please open this project with higher version of this product. OK whatever, so I go to AB.com to try and get an update for my logix and I get shot down because you need a support contract just to download a flippin' update for a product that I already shelled out way too much money for. Is there any way around this? I don't need to change the program at all, just view it and maybe print out one of those nifty reports. Thanks! cmoyer

RSlogix 5000 service edition

We just downloaded and are using RSlogix 5000 service edition on one of our lines. This is a software that allows you to see the PLC program, but not make changes. It is great for our Maintenance guys, but one of my managers is worried that they will change what IP they are looking at and end up setting someone else up for failure later on. Is there a way to lock RSlogix on a PC to a specific PLC IP so there is no chance of them looking at Machine A's programming from machine B?

Displaying a cognex camera on a panelview +

I searched the forum and didn't find any posts in regards to what I'm trying to do. I thought I would give everyone something to think about. I am wanting to display my vision system images on my panelview plus 600. I don't want to display anything other than the images that the camera takes. (Not worried about the tools, ect.) Here's the details: I'm using the new micro from cognex. I'm programming the vision system with insight explorer version 4.2.0. I have a micrologix 1100 with a panelview plus 600. I think that panelview + uses windows ce so I'm not sure where to even start on this. I know this may be possible (at least on a panelview plus ce display with DVT/Frameworks) because the previous place I worked had this going on. I would check with them but the machine wasn't programmed in house. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Download program to Micrologix 1400

Hello, I'm new to PLC Programming, with just a simple course about the basics.

I've got a micrologix 1400 PLC which seems to have had its program wiped when the battery was replaced. I've had the company that supplied the machine it runs send me the program for the PLC. However, I don't have any software to communicate with it, and download the program to the PLC. I was hoping some one here could help me out and direct me towards what I will need to do to get the new program installed on the PLC.

Thank you

Guru's iv got a job of revamping one of our process lines and there are 10 off 0.55Kw pumps on this line, i was planning on using a ML1100 processor with 2 analogue 4 channel cards to control the speed of the pumps coupled with ultrasonic sensors in a pid loop to control water levels, Now here’s the question in stead of using the analogue cards i was wondering if i could communicate with these Schneider ATV320U06M2B Drives via the Communication module: Ethernet/IP ive done this before using a multihop in the ladder but i was reading and writing to a Allen Bradley 525 i want to achieve the same but read write to the Schneider drives. is this possible?

as always any help will be gratefully received

Introduction, new to fourm

Hello everyone, my name is Mike and I thought I would introduce myself. I am new to the fourm board but in the past searching online for answers to my questions has lead me here several times, so I thought it would be better to register and become a member.

My project is probably going to seem unusual and not very practical to most. I used to do some computer programming back in the 1980's to 1990's, but only for home use. Over the course of the years with my job as a technician, first with a CD/DVD manufacturing facility, and now plastic sheet and products manufacturing, I have had to troubleshoot PLC's for years. I have had to work on several types, mainly to troubleshoot them and load the programs back into memory when needed.

I wanted to learn how to do actual programming. I purchased a small training kit with an Allen-Bradley ML1000 which has six inputs and four outputs attached with several switches and lights. Seemed to go OK, but I wanted to do something more "real world" then just pushing buttons and such. At the time, the DVD plant was closing up and I was allowed to remove parts from the machines to take home since all was being scrapped.

I do have a model train layout around the wall of my living room. Documented here, the video links are missing and I have to fix that.

https://www.nepaview.com/the-wall-mount-counstruction.html

I thought perhaps a good real world example would be to control the layout using a PLC. I used the parts I was able to obtain from my prior job to build this, I found on Ebay the better Micrologix 1000 that has more I/O. I figured for now to stick with this since I already started using a training kit with Allen-Bradley. I did obtain some PLC modules which do have a few more I/O then the ML1000 does. I also obtained several Proface HMI panels, but have had no luck getting them to communicate to the PLC.

I am only using the RSLogix Micro Starter software as it is still free to use. I posted my progress on my website here which also has a few video links for the programs I wrote so far. Since I am using the free software I am limited to the 1000 and 1100 series PLC's Since there is no analog I/O available for these, I cannot control the speeds of the trains.

https://www.nepaview.com/model-train-plc-project.html

If anyone wants to see any code I have written so far, I would appreciate any feedback on how I am doing. It has been a lot of trial and error so far, but its cool to see a program working and running the trains. I did also incorporate a safety circuit which for a model train layout would be not needed, but since PLC's are used in industrial controls, safety circuits are an integrated part of machines and I wanted to follow that idea in the design of the controls for the layout.

Since I had no luck trying to get the Proface panels to work, I purchased a C-more panel since it was not very expensive and the software was free to download. I am having success with the communication with the PLC and the eventual plan is to utilize it to control my layout in my living room.

I still have a long way to go to finishing this project, plus plenty to learn about programming, but it has been a good learning tool so far.

Mike
